Danila Lipatov was born in the former Soviet Union and initially studied Translation Studies at Moscow State Linguistic University. In 2023, he completed his studies in Media Arts at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. In his multimedia works (installation, performance, video) and artistic workshop formats, Danila works with autofictional methods and filmic-performative reconstructions of archive and interview fragments. He also works as a duo with Karen Zimmermann and in various collaborations with friends. They create queer spaces that interweave personal stories, facts and fictions and question established orders.

As part of DISLOCATIONS—in sight , Danila Lipatov will be researching queer subcultures in the GDR of the 1980s in the KRM Research Space from March to May 2025.
