Pam Virada

Pam Virada (b. Bangkok) is an artist based in Amsterdam. She explores intersections between the cinematic and temporal, navigating the ghostly forces and intimate stories within domestic spheres. Through mixed-media installations and moving images, Virada reconfigures existing contexts and narratives, investigating the themes of impermanence and intimate turmoil in spatial arrangements, objects, text, and expanded cinema. Through the interplay of mnemonic devices, mundane objects and gestures, she amalgamates their potential in oxymoronic situations—blending fictional scenarios with existing narratives, probing the dynamics of placement and displacement.
Her recent presentations include Housewarming: Activations for a new location, de Appel, Amsterdam, The Netherlands; How Far, How Close, Aranya Art Center, Qinhuangdao, China; from here to here, Nova Contemporary, Bangkok, Thailand; a Trick of Light, Meno Avilys, Vilnius, Lithuania, among others. She was a recent resident at Rupert Residency in 2023.

Pam Virada presents her site-specific work the room I entered was a dream of this room (2024) as part of the exhibition Transforming.
